1. What we collect

When you create a Covers.com account we collect your username, email address and hashed password. If you enter a paid prize contest we may need to collect additional information required for prize fulfilment or tax reporting. Forum posts are stored under your username and are public.

We also collect technical data automatically: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring page and pages visited. This is standard analytics data used to keep the site fast and secure.

2. How we use it

• To operate your account and deliver contests you have entered
• To send transactional emails (password reset, contest confirmations, prize notifications)
• To improve editorial coverage — knowing which pages get the most traffic tells us where to invest
• To detect and prevent fraud, spam and abuse of the community forum
• To comply with legal obligations including anti-money-laundering rules where prize payouts apply

3. Marketing communications

You can opt in to Covers newsletters — best-bets round-ups, editorial highlights and contest reminders. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or from your account settings.

4. Sharing with third parties

We share personal data with:

• Sportsbook partners — only when you click through a Covers link and choose to register at that operator. Once you leave Covers, the partner's own privacy policy applies.
• Service providers — email delivery, analytics, cloud hosting and fraud detection vendors bound by confidentiality contracts.
• Regulators and law enforcement — where legally compelled to disclose.

Covers does not sell your personal data to advertisers or list brokers.

5. Cookies

We use first-party cookies for essential functions (keeping you signed in, remembering preferences) and analytics cookies to understand aggregate site usage. Advertising cookies from sportsbook partners may be set only where you have consented via the cookie banner. You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time.

6. Security

Passwords are hashed with industry-standard algorithms and never stored in plain text. Traffic between your browser and Covers servers is encrypted with TLS. Access to production data is restricted to a small engineering team on named accounts with two-factor authentication.

7. Data retention

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active plus six years after closure to meet legal record-keeping obligations relating to contests and prize awards. Marketing preferences and analytics data are held for shorter periods.

8. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to restrict or object to certain processing. Requests can be sent to privacy@en-covers.com and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

9. International transfers

Covers.com is operated from the United States. If you access the site from outside the US, your data will be transferred to and processed in the US under appropriate safeguards.
